Terre d’Hermès
If I had to scale my (considerable number of) fragrances down to a Top 3, I think Terre d’Hermès would definitely take up a top slot.
Conceived in 2006 by Jean-Claude Ellena, this vertically structured scent is based on an alchemy of wood, the scent first introduces the gaity of orange, the bitterness of grapefruit and the vivacity of pepper and of fresh spices.
It has a sparkly, fresh citrus mix of orange and grapefruit that slowly begins to darken and dry as it’s tempered by pepper, cedar and maybe a touch a patchouli. It smells expensive, lasts well on the skin and isn’t overly musky/heavy. It’s that rare fragrance that’s both mature and yet easy to wear.
As with all fragrance reviews, this is all subjective but I do highly recommend you go out and sniff this. If you’re in to citrus/woody scents and are looking for something a little elegant, go for it.
You can buy Terre d’Hermès here – I have (and prefer!) the Eau de Toilette.
